Welcome back to the BodPod! Today, we are joined by the one and only Carly Compton! Carly is an eating disorder survivor, self-love and confidence educator, podcast host, and soon-to-be eating disorder therapist. She will be graduating with her MSW in May with the hopes of working as a licensed clinical social worker and starting her own private practice. Her platform, Paradise Fitness with Carly, is built on breaking up with toxic diet culture and learning how to heal your relationship with food, movement, and your body through a health at every size framework and intuitive eating. Carly hopes to inspire individuals to wear the damn bikini no matter their size and lives by the motto, “My weight does not define my worth.”
In this episode, Carly will share how and why she kickstarted Paradise Fitness with Carly including her struggles with an eating disorder and her recovery process, how she turned to humour as a coping mechanism, and how the media plays into stereotypes surrounding people in larger bodies. Besides this, we’ll also chat about Carly’s fitness account and how it has evolved over the years, how she came to the realization that she did not want disordered eating and diet culture to control her life, and how she deals with negative thoughts about her body. Last but not least, we’ll discuss the importance of unfollowing people who make you think twice about your body. Keep listening to hear how Carly is helping others realize that their weight does not define their worth.
